Memorial Day Parade

With the addition of the Veterans Memorial Park, the long-standing annual Memorial Day Parade in New Era now takes a different route than it did for so many years past.

The parade will begin at New Era Christian School at 9:00am, turn south on James St, West on Ray Ave, then south on Oceana Drive. The parade will finish at the Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of Oceana Drive and Garfield Road.

The Shelby High School Marching Band will be participating in the parade, along with old fashioned cars and trucks, local police, ambulance, and firetrucks, veterans escorted by their families or in cars provided for them, local boy scouts groups, and this years Ms Asparagus and runner-up.

There will no longer be a bike decorating contest for the kids, but those that do decorate their bikes are welcome to join the parade and will be awarded a candy bar for their participation.
